Bonjour les families de William Reid

Notes of Thanks

  • To all parents who volunteered for our Book Fair
  • To all the families who came to our Kindergarten / Grade 1 orientation
  • To Sue our Bus Driver

Virtue this month is Honesty

We will be hosting an assembly this month to promote our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and to the Indigenous Culture on the virtue of honesty.  All homerooms are doing activities to promote being honest with yourself and others and the importance for mental health and wellbeing.  We will be exploring the idea of “tattling” on someone and “telling” an adult when in need.

Kindergarten Field Trip to the Calgary Zoo

Our kindergarten students will be going on a field trip to the Calgary Zoo; AM K on May 23 and PM K on May 30. This exciting trip will supports the Kindergarten Science curriculum, particularly the unit on
Environment and Community Awareness. Students will observe living things, and use their five senses to deepen their understanding of the natural world. They will also practice responding to authentic oral communication in French. During and following the trip, students will complete a zoo booklet and participate in a French NLA sharing cycle to describe what they saw, reviewing key concepts such as colours, 2D and 3D shapes, and numbers 0–10.

Run Club

Run Club runs during lunchtime Tuesdays and Thursdays. (April 29-May 22) for Gr 1 – 4 students. Kids can meet Katrina and Sarah S in the field during their lunch recess time. There will be no sign up but any students can join in.  We will run the perimeter of the fields (Terry Fox Run route). As a culmination and something to work towards, Run Club participants and their families could register for the Kids Race at
the Calgary Marathon on Saturday, May 24 2025  (New date it is no longer Sunday).   This will not be a school sponsored event, parents can just register their kids and come as a family to the race.  Parents
must be present at the Calgary Marathon and there will be no childcare provided.  https://calgarymarathon.com/info/

Bus Driver Appreciation Day – Monday May 5

We are so fortunate to have a wonderfully reliable and caring bus driver – Sue!

If you are a family that utilizes cbe bus transportation, please join us in appreciating all the care Sue takes in order for our students to be transported to and from school safely every day!

CBE 2025-2026 Calendar

As William Reid families plan their lives, including travel, we request consideration of the published
CBE calendar of non-instructional days: 2025-2026 CBE Instructional Calendar Note that the first day of school is on Tues. Sept. 2, 2025 (after the August long weekend). Similar to this school year, a Fall Break has been set in November, in addition to the customary Winter and Spring breaks. Maintaining regular school attendance, and planning travel during scheduled breaks, is vital to success in learning and social development.
