What a wonderful week of learning and community at William Reid!

I was truly touched by the way our school came together around the things that matter. On Monday, many of our students marked the Fall Equinox by spending time on the land, returning with a deeper appreciation and connection to it.

As a whole school, we also reflected on courage through the inspiring example of Terry Fox. Together, we ran in his honour, reminding ourselves of the importance of perseverance when things get tough. It was so nice for those parents who were able to do so to join the run on Wednesday. I am thrilled to share that we not only met but exceeded our fundraising goal of

$4,500 for cancer research—raising an incredible $6,032!

To end the week, our Fall Fling/Meet the Teacher event was a huge success. A big thank you to our School Council and parent community for organizing, and a special shout-out to Andrea and Marcie for keeping me on track with communication, set up and take down. To those volunteers that helped out during the evening, thank you. Your contributions are what makes this event run so smoothly. It was truly a fantastic opportunity for families and staff to connect—one of the best community events I’ve had the privilege to be part of.

Oktoberfest Fundraiser

Save the Date – Saturday October 25 at Last Best Brewing (607 11th AVE SW). See the flyer.

The William Reid School Fundraising Society holds a fundraiser every two years called Oktoberfest. This is a fun event consisting of: an evening out; a silent auction that is hosted online and a live auction held during the evening. In the past, this event has raised in the neighborhood of $20 000 for the school. These funds go directly to the school, and this is the only event that the Fundraising Society hosts for the year to generate funds.

A Friendly Reminder About School Safety

At William Reid School, the safety and well-being of our students and staff is always our top priority. To help us maintain a safe and calm environment, we kindly ask parents and visitors not to enter the school building during soft entry or dismissal times unless they go directly to the office.

When adults who are not staff are in the hallways or classrooms, it naturally draws the attention of teachers and staff away from their important work with students. To support learning and safety, we ask that:

  • If you’d like to speak with a teacher, please arrange a meeting in advance by email.
  • If you need to drop something off for your child, please use the front entrance, buzz in if the doors are locked, and proceed directly to the office. Our staff will ensure your child receives the item quickly.

Thank you for your partnership in helping us create a safe, focused, and welcoming environment for all students.
