Bonjour nos familles,
We look forward to another great week of learning at William Reid School. Thank you to all members of our school council for their on-going dedication and support of our students at William Reid School. School council occurs every month on the second Tuesday at 7:00pm and is a great way for members of our community to learn about school happenings and events. To facilitate attendance we offer a format of both on-line and in person meetings. As well, thank you to all of our families for your participation and volunteer support of the fundraising opportunities, field trips, fun lunches and snack days being offered. Together we are all making William Reid a great place to learn and to be. Our Grade K – 4 students are currently participating in an art project with Sue Contini. It is great to see everyone persevering and trying their best to learn new skills and to create something lasting for our community.
With the gym space in use, all other classes will be participating in outdoor Phys Ed, so students are reminded to dress in layers to be able to participate comfortably while outdoors.
As well, the month of May sees many of our classrooms going on field trips and we appreciate all members of our learning community who support these student opportunities. This is a good time to remind families to please review your MyCBE Account for any outstanding field trip fees, and to ensure that all required student forms are completed and returned.

Our school council meeting is this upcoming Tuesday at 7:00 PM – reminder to all families that you are invited. The link is online, and the meeting is either online or in person at the school.
You’re Fa-Brew-Lous!
On Friday May 31, 2024 at 8:15 am we are honoring our wonderful volunteers in the gym at William Reid School. There will be coffee and an assortment of treats for you to enjoy. There will also be various performances from our grateful students and an opportunity to chat with staff. There is so much we couldn’t do without our amazing parent volunteers. You add tremendously to our school community. We want to show our appreciation for taking time out of your busy lives to chaperone field trips, attend School Council, support teachers and students during our school residencies, fundraise, organize fun events for staff and students, distribute special lunches, and so much more. Please RSVP with your child’s teacher by May 17 to let us know if you are attending.
Celebrate Norway’s National Day - May 16
Mme Christina Cameron and her Grade 1’s will be celebrating Norway’s National Day with a parade and a lunch. Her classroom has been in partnership with another grade 1 school and classroom in Norway.

Busing Registration for the 2024-25 School Year Coming Soon
Watch for more information about registration for transportation for the next school. Families must register by the deadline for students to be added to routes for the start of the school this fall.
My 1st Ride
The CBE offers a school bus orientation program for first-time riders and their parents, called My 1st Ride. The program consists of a 20-minute presentation followed by a short ride on a school bus and a drama presentation. The sessions are free but you must register in advance. Learn more and register.
Attendants must register in advance. Spots are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis. After the bus ride, students are invited back to the school gym to visit the service provider's booths. Each new rider will also be given a certificate of completion. The sessions run every half hour between 9 AM and 3 PM. Each session will take approximately 1 hour. Staff from CBE Transportation, Calgary Catholic School District, Southland Transportation, and First Student are available for information and/or questions.
