Fundraising Society Vacancy

William Reid School is currently seeking to fill one role for the William Reid School Fundraising Society (WRSFS):

  • Fundraising Society President – Leads meetings, oversees fundraising initiatives, ensures compliance, and holds signing authority.

While not overly time-consuming, this role is critical to the success of Parent Council.

Please contact wrchair@gmail.com if you are interested.

6. Healthy Hunger | Special Lunch Volunteers

Our next Healthy Hunger Fun Lunch is on Wednesday, January 29, 2026 featuring Subway.

Thank you to all the volunteers who have already signed up to help organize and distribute food!

7. Chess Club

Chess Club will continue in the New Year every Wednesday at lunchtime in the gym for Grades 3 and 4.

Please remember to:

  • Bring your lunch
  • Bring your own chess set (if you have one), or team up with a friend

All skill levels are welcome—from beginners learning the basics to experienced players ready to show off their best moves. Come sharpen your mind, meet new friends, and have fun!

8. Traffic Safety Concerns | Safety Over Convenience

We continue to see instances of jaywalking in front of the school. Keeping students safe during drop-off and pick-up requires cooperation from everyone.

Safety Reminders

Use Crosswalks
Please model safe behaviour by using designated crosswalks. Students learn from what they see, and your actions help them develop lifelong safety habits.

Kiss-and-Go Zone
The Kiss-and-Go area is for quick drop-offs only. If you wish to walk your child to school, please park:

  • On 11th Street
  • On 12th Street (south of the school)
  • North of the driveway on the west side
  • On 13th Street

Bus Zone
Please do not park or drop off in the bus zone. This area extends from the corner of 12th Street and 36th Avenue to north of the driveway at the west doors. Parking here causes congestion, delays buses, and creates unsafe conditions.

Support from Calgary Police Service
We have requested support from CPS Traffic Safety. Officers may issue tickets for violations of posted signage or traffic laws.

Reporting Concerns
Traffic safety concerns can be reported through 311 using the following link:
https://www.coplogic.ca/dors/startreport/102104800/117669900

Thank you for helping us prioritize student safety. Your cooperation makes a meaningful difference.
